As I understand it, the prior person broke the bolt, then slipped in a helicoil without extracting the old bolt they would have had to go up a size or two and cut threads into the water pump for that to hold at all this sound like a shade tree JB weld "repair". If the pushrods came with the engine, they could simply just be old. I started it up the other day,and it knocked like never B4, then wouldn't start again. Adjustable Pushrods. If you suspect the overrev bent the pushrods then you must also suspect it was because of valve head to piston contact and replacing the pushrods (and rockers if you want) is only half the job. You - Answered by a verified Motorcycle Mechanic Every time I've bent a pushrod it's also taken out the lifter(rod flailing around takes out the retainer clip). I got the car out for the first time this year went for a short drive and everything Anyway, I found that I had a slipped intake valve keeper on my #6 cylinder, which of course implied that the sound I heard may have been the valve hitting the rocker or the piston, who knows? Now, having replaced the keeper, I realize that the pushrod for that valve is bent. I pulled the air cleaner off and when you run the tractor without it sounds like a loud banging noise (I think the air filter actually muffled how bad it really is). and there isnt any smoke coming out of the engine.


Try the 6. I won't be going back to the big city for weeks as it's 300km round trip. lifters are only $50 a set and rockers and pushrods are not that expensive. After pulling the intake, I inspected all 16 rocker arms, pushrods, and lifters to find no other damage.

Better yet, you can get a mechanic to do it. Bent pushrods is a bad thing tho like mentioned, they are generally a sign of other valvetrain problems unless you've been missing shifts or something. Still on the original belt and I have done all of my own maintenance. I was going to do a valve lash check/adjustment on the engine after 100 hours running and as a check, you get each cylinder at TDC with both valves shut and rotate the pushrod in your fingers.


im just glad it was a easy and cheap fix. My 17 hp Kia Kawasaki (FH541V) with 700 hours started making a clicking sound, so I took off the valve covers to adjust the valve lash. Incorrect sensor feedback will make the engine run a lot worse than limp mode ignoring the bad sensor would. the plates expired in 03 so it was not sitting in one spot for 6 years ive seen it moved around the guys property so it has been run.

Get with the engine builder but most of the time a engine builder want do anything about a high preformance engine but I would still quistion him about it. **** happens when you play hard. While the valve cover is still removed look at each of the pushrods to see if there is an obvious bend to them. It did sound more like a valve train issue. put all back together ran great.
